Back pain, what is it?

Both men and women can experience kidney pain at some point in their life. Usually, these pains occur between the ages of 30 and 50. It is one of the most frequent reasons for medical consultations and absences from work.

The main cause of this pain is wear and tear on the spine, more specifically the intervertebral discs. The older we get, the less bone strength, elasticity and muscle tone we have. Consequence of this: the intervertebral discs lose flexibility and also lose fluids, and then no longer manage to protect the vertebrae.

Causes of lower back pain

There can be other causes of lower back pain, although in most cases the responsible factor is simply old age.

  • Muscle distension is one of these causes: When we exert an effort to lift a heavy object, we can cause muscle strain. This will manifest as difficulty standing or walking.
  • A sciatic word used to describe a strong pain felt at one of the two sciatic nerves, which are located at the back of the legs can cause low back pain.
  • Spondylolisthesis, a word for a displacement of a vertebra in front of the vertebra below it, compresses the nerve root.
  • Lumbar osteoarthritis occurs when the intervertebral discs in the lumbar area are worn out. In addition to creating instability in the lower back, it causes inflammation and, in many cases, sciatica.
  • Other common causes: spinal cord fractures, herniated disc, kidney infection, kidney stones, diseases of the female reproductive organs and problems related to pregnancy.

Fortunately, ointments are effective in combating this pain. Combining the properties of arnica with those of coconut oil is an economical and simple solution to relieve lower back pain. Adding a little beeswax will add consistency, which will help you apply the product better.

Arnica

Arnica has analgesic properties that relieve pain in sprains and other muscle injuries. It is also a good anti-inflammatory: thanks to the presence of helenaline, arnica helps to deflate the bumps that occur following a blow or an injury.

When this product is applied to the skin, it fights irritation with its antimicrobial properties. Besides, arnica also has the power to stimulate the circulation of blood to the place where it is applied. This is why this product is said to be rubefacient. Thanks to this last property, arnica eliminates bruises and reduces the possibility of having them.

Coconut oil

The body assimilates the saturated fatty acids present in coconut oil very well, because they are of plant origin. Coconut oil contains lauric acid, palmitic acid, myristic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid, iron, vitamin E, and vitamin K. All these components make coconut oil an ideal product for taking care of one’s health.

Coconut oil also has antimicrobial, antifungal and antibacterial properties. It also stimulates the immune system and relieves muscle pain.

The ingredients to prepare the ointment

  • 3 tablespoons of beeswax (45 g)
  • 1 tablespoon of coconut oil (15 ml)
  • 2 tablespoons of arnica oil (30 ml)

The preparation of the ointment

  • Heat the beeswax in a double boiler.
  • When the wax has melted, reduce the heat to a minimum, then add the arnica oil and coconut oil.
  • Mix for a few seconds, then turn off the heat and let stand.
  • Apply the product to the affected area twice a day.
